What you’ll bring:

  • Own major components of the backend application.
  • Enhance existing and build new features to support the product vision.
  • Collaborate closely with current backend developers.
  • Use ReTool to build admin dashboards for internal users.
  • Enforce best practices and proper design patterns for backend development.
  • Mentor and coach more junior developers.

What you’ll do:

  • Must-haves
    • 5+ years as a Backend developer.
    • 3+ years working with Elixir to build medium to large-scale applications.
    • Strong knowledge of modern architectural design patterns such as:
      • Microservices
      • Event Sourcing
      • Domain-Driven Design
      • Event-Driven Architecture
    • Extensive testing experience (unit, regression, e2e).
    • Experience with building and integrating REST APIs.
      • We prefer candidates who have experience using Elixir with Phoenix to build APIs; however, we may consider individuals with strong foundations in other functional languages (e.g. Golang, Rust) or Ruby.
    • Experience with securing applications.
      • Knowledge of integrating OAuth2 into backend applications.
      • Would be nice if they’ve worked with JWTs before.
      • In general, we want to know that they have experience with securing APIs and understand the tradeoffs between different methods.
    • Strong SQL skills.
  • Nice-to-haves
    • Strong preference for a scrappy engineer who has:
      • Previously worked for a fully remote company.
      • Past FinTech industry experience.
      • Past startup experience.
      • DevOps experience, particularly with GCP or AWS.

  • 2 culture fit screen interviews (2 members from diff teams to get a sense of candidates perspective on company)
  • Engineering Test drive (some demonstration of skills)
  • Decision made and hiring occurs
