The Standard Notes Clipper is a free, open-source, and completely encrypted notes app that I use for work and personal use. I absolutely love the app because it’s secure, customizable, and it works on web, desktop, and mobile, but something it did not offer was a “web clipper” that allows users to grab pages or portions of pages they find on the web and save them to notes. A few competing note-taking apps offer this feature but they are not as secure or advanced in other areas as Standard Notes. Therefore, thanks to Standard Notes being an open source project, I was able to work with their developer documentation and the app’s creator to develop a web clipper that seamlessly works with Standard Notes. The clipper works with Firefox, Chrome, and Chromium-based browsers such as Brave. It uses the same encryption measures as Standard Notes, and it offers a variety of clipping “modes” so that users can grab exactly what they need from pages.
