Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and conceptualization of innovative apparel-embedded electronics products and solutions for military and commercial customers.
  • Spearhead the creation of compelling design concepts that blend functionality, ergonomics, and aesthetics, ensuring seamless integration with clothing and textiles.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on user needs, market trends, and emerging technologies to inform design decisions and strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and marketing teams to align design concepts with technical requirements and market objectives.
  • Develop and present detailed design proposals, including sketches, renderings, and prototypes, to stakeholders, effectively communicating design intent and functionality.
  • Oversee the design process from concept to production, ensuring designs are feasible, cost-effective, and manufacturable while maintaining design integrity.
  • Utilize advanced design tools and software to create high-fidelity 3D models and prototypes, facilitating clear understanding and evaluation of design concepts.
  • Champion user-centered design principles, incorporating user feedback and ergonomic considerations into design decisions to enhance product usability and appeal.
  • Engage in cross-functional design reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to refine and improve product designs.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in wearable technology, materials, and manufacturing processes, integrating innovative approaches to enhance product design and functionality.
  • Contribute to the development of design guidelines, best practices, and processes, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the design team

Requirements

  • Expertise in industrial design with a proven ability to create innovative and user-centric designs for wearable technology.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing experience in garment-integrated wearables, highlighting a deep understanding of textile integration, material selection, and ergonomics.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools, such as SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D printing, for creating detailed designs and prototypes.
  • Excellent visualization and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate design concepts and details effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, particularly those relevant to wearable technology and garment integration.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, incorporating feedback and insights from various stakeholders to refine designs.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of professional design experience in the wearable technology sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing wearable products, particularly with a focus on biomedical and military applications, showcasing innovative solutions and successful product launches.
  • Experience in leading design projects from concept to production, demonstrating a strong understanding of the product development process.
  • A track record of innovative design thinking, with a portfolio that demonstrates a deep understanding of user needs and market trends in wearable technology.
